Scope

These terms cover using PrefabCortex through the website and through the API. You may use the service as a consumer or in the course of a business; where that makes a difference, I say so in the relevant clause. Terms of your own do not become part of this contract, even if I do not expressly object to them.

How the contract comes about

The contract is concluded when you open an account and accept these terms while doing so — with the checkbox on the registration form, or, if you sign in with GitHub, on the page you are shown immediately afterwards, before you can use the service. Without acceptance there is no contract. I record when you accepted and which version; you can read both in your data export at any time. There is no right to an account — registration may be limited to a particular group.

What the service does

PrefabCortex runs an automated generator over an OpenAPI specification you provide and makes the result available as a PHP package: as a ZIP archive to download, or as a commit into a repository you have given me access to. What is owed is that run, not a particular result. In particular I do not owe you that the generated code is free of defects, that it is fit for any particular purpose, that it suits a particular PHP or framework version, or that the licences of the dependencies the generator pulls in suit your plans. I do not review the generated code. Check it before you put it into production. PrefabCortex also reads an OpenAPI specification at your request and shows you what stood out in it. Here too what is owed is the run, not a particular result: I owe you neither that the list of findings is complete, nor that a specification without a finding is free of defects or conforms to any standard. The service is under continuous development; features may be added, changed or removed.

No charge

Use is free. There are no paid plans, no trial that turns into something paid, and no feature to unlock. If you support the project through the link offered, that is a gift within the meaning of §516 BGB: you get nothing for it — no extra features, no higher limits, no priority. That promise is made to everybody equally.

Your account

You need an account to use the service, and you must have full legal capacity. Your credentials and the API tokens you create are yours alone: do not pass them on, and revoke a token in the settings as soon as you suspect somebody else knows it. What happens through your account is attributed to you insofar as you are responsible for it.

What you must not do

Only submit specifications you hold the necessary rights to. Not permitted: content that infringes third-party rights or applicable law; attempts to disrupt, overload or attack the generator, the server or other accounts; automated bulk requests beyond the published limits; circumventing technical restrictions; and passing your access on to somebody else.

Rights in your specification

What you upload or link to stays yours. I acquire no rights in it beyond what processing your request requires: storing it, running it through the generator, and making the result available to you. I do not mine your specifications for purposes of my own, do not pass them on, and do not train anything on them.

Rights in the generated package

The generated package is yours. It carries your name as the copyright holder and your Composer vendor, and you may do what you like with it — including selling it. I claim no rights in it and no attribution. Third-party code the generator pulls in remains under the licences of its authors; complying with those is your job.

Storage and backups

I keep your specifications and your requests for as long as your account exists, or until you delete them. I delete the generated ZIP archive 24 hours after your first download, and no later than seven days after it was built — it is there to be collected, not to sit around, and the day is only so that a download that broke off can be repeated. A specification you only have checked is deleted as soon as it has been read; the result can be opened for a short time afterwards and is not kept. I do not owe you a backup: keep your own copy of anything that matters to you. What is stored and for how long is set out in full in the privacy policy.

Availability

I promise no particular availability. The service runs on a single server, is operated by me alone, and may be unreachable at any time for maintenance, rebuilding, or reasons outside my control. I may also discontinue it entirely, and will announce that on the website with reasonable notice as far as I am able.

Review, suspension and complaints

I do not scan stored content automatically and do not look through it as a matter of routine. If I learn of a breach of the rules above, I may delete the content concerned, block access to it, restrict use, or suspend or terminate your account. I choose the mildest measure that ends the breach, and tell you the decision with reasons as soon as I can reach you. Report a breach through the contact form, naming as precisely as you can what it is and where. If you disagree with a decision, object by the same route — I will look at it again and answer with reasons. Going to court remains open to you regardless.

Right of withdrawal

There is no statutory right of withdrawal here. It presupposes a contract for payment, or one in which you provide personal data instead of payment which is then used for further purposes (§312(1a) BGB). Neither applies: use is free, and I process your data solely to provide the service and to meet legal obligations — no advertising, no analytics, no passing it on for anybody else's purposes. In practice you are better off than with a fourteen-day period: you can delete your account at any time and without giving a reason.

Defects

For this contract over a digital product I hold myself to §§327 ff. BGB, including where they do not already apply here of their own force, and your statutory rights in respect of defects are unaffected. What the service has to do is measured against the description above — which is not a limitation of my liability but a statement of what I offer in the first place. For the duration of the contract I keep the service in the condition §327e BGB requires and provide updates as far as §327f BGB provides for. If you find a defect, report it through the contact form — that is also the fastest way to get it fixed.

Liability

I am liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for damage arising from injury to life, body or health, under the Produkthaftungsgesetz, and where I have given a guarantee. For ordinary negligence I am liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation — one whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible at all and on whose observance you may regularly rely — and then limited to the damage foreseeable at the conclusion of the contract and typical for it. Liability is otherwise excluded. For loss of data I am liable only up to the cost that recovering it would have taken had it been backed up properly and regularly.

Indemnity

If a specification you submit infringes third-party rights and you are responsible for that, you indemnify me against the claims third parties bring against me because of it, and bear the cost of a reasonable legal defence. I will tell you about such claims without delay and consult you before acknowledging or settling them.

Term and termination

The contract runs indefinitely. You may end it at any time and without notice by deleting your account in the settings; your data is removed immediately, as described in the privacy policy. I may terminate on 30 days' notice to the end of a month; the right to terminate for cause — in particular for a serious breach of the rules above — is unaffected. Download whatever you want to keep beforehand.

Changes to these terms

I may change these terms where there is good reason to — a change in the law, a new feature, or a changed process in the service. A new version does not apply automatically: you are shown it for acceptance the next time you visit, and until then the version you accepted continues to apply. Your silence does not count as acceptance. If you do not accept the new version you cannot continue to use the service, and you can delete your account at any time.

Governing law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you are habitually resident are unaffected. If you are a merchant, a legal person under public law or a special fund under public law, my seat is the exclusive place of jurisdiction.

Dispute resolution

I am neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. Come to me first instead — most things sort themselves out over email.

Version

Version 2026-10-12, in effect from 2026-10-12. Which version you accepted is shown in your data export.
